We are HOLA Visual Arts
A community that celebrates and nurtures the creativity in our youth through arts education.
This blog is a glimpse into our public art projects, bringing our artistic practices into the larger community. In collaboration with emerging and established artists through artist residencies and innovative public engagement projects, we cultivate spaces of joy and learning for our young people and the greater population of Los Angeles.
About the Public Art Residency
"The Berman Foundation started supporting HOLA in 2010, and in 2015 began funding the organization’s Public Art Residency, which links prominent Los Angeles artists with HOLA students for the purpose of creating community engaged projects relevant to the surrounding area. The Public Art Residency originally developed a name for itself with 2012 funding from The Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, and when Berman Foundation Board Member Nancy Berman attended one of the culminating events she knew it was something she wanted to see continue and grow. Since then, the Public Art Residency has brought more than fifteen established and emerging artists to work with youth in our program."
Thank you to the Berman Foundation for its continued support, making annual residencies possible at Heart of LA.
